Why Choose the January Intake?
January can be a great option if you:
- Missed the September 2026 intake
- Need more time to prepare your application
- Want to start your studies sooner rather than waiting until September 2027
Several Irish universities and colleges offer selected programmes starting in January.
January options can include areas such as:
- Business & Management
- Computing & Technology
- Finance
- Data & Analytics
- Marketing
- Selected postgraduate programmes
When Should You Apply?
It’s best to begin researching and preparing your application as early as possible. Deadlines vary depending on the university and programme, and some courses may close once places are filled.6
A simple timeline:
September–October 2026: Research courses, prepare documents and apply.
October–November 2026: Work on your offer, fees and visa documentation.
November–December 2026: Finalize your visa, accommodation and travel plans.
January 2027: Begin your Irish Journey !
What Do You Need to Apply?
Requirements vary, but you will generally need:
- Academic certificates and transcripts
- Valid passport
- English-language test results, where required
- CV or personal statement, if required
- Proof of finances for your visa
- University offer letter
- Other supporting documents depending on your course
What About the Student Visa?
If you’re coming to Ireland for more than 90 days and require a visa, you’ll generally need a Long Stay ‘D’ study visa.
Visa applications can be made up to three months before your planned travel date, so it’s important to leave enough time for processing and avoid applying at the last minute.
Is January 2027 Right for You? It could be!
Just remember: course availability and deadlines vary, so always check your chosen programme before applying.
